Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair Meets with Min Aung Hlaing

Myanmar: Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar Deputy Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn met with Myanmar's military leaders this morning, discussing and exchanging views on the implementation and progress of the ASEAN Five-Point consensus, the visit of Prime Minister Hun Sen in January 2022.

Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn travel to Myanmar for the first time as a special envoy to the ASEAN chairmanship from March 20 to March 23. Accompanying him to Myanmar are the Minister of Industry, Senior Minister Cham Prasidth, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Mr. Lim Jock Hoi, Executive Director of the AHA Center, Mr. Lee Yam Ming, and other Cambodian-ASEAN officials.

In a statement issued on March 18, 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that this is the first visit of the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar with the aim of creating favorable conditions to end the violence as well as tolerance. Highly inclusive, distribution of humanitarian assistance, with the support and coordination of the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Management, and encouraging political consultations / dialogue among with all stakeholders.
